After a somewhat sleepless night as the rain kept us awake we got up just before 9. Although the temperature was around 19 degrees, it was still raining and the forecast was almost solid rain for 2 days.
With the planned walks out of the window, we met in the campsite kitchen for breakfast at 9.30 (more bacon and mushroom rolls) to reorganise our day.
So after showering we decided to drive to the Silverband waterfalls for a little walk. It is known as the disappearing waterfall as when the water hits the ground the majority of it just disappears straight underground.
Next stop we drove to Boroka Lookout which we were told was a spectacular view but unfortunately we were now in cloud cover and it was a total whiteout!
With the weather looking like it was set to rain for the rest of the day we headed back to camp to take shelter in the campsite kitchen and make some sarnies for lunch.
Since breakfast Colin had had a craving for an ice cream here so we walked over to the local shops and then decided to frequent the local brewery bar – Paper, Scissors, Rock and give a tasting paddle a go before deciding on what beers to drink for the afternoon.
The weather was not breaking and the forecast saying about 50ml of rain expected – albeit surely that had already fallen! The little ebbing stream from yesterday next to where we were camped was now raging down and was soo much deeper.
Around 7 we decamped to the campsite kitchen again for beers and burgers as it now just too wet and chilly to even stay out under the awning!
Elaine had the music playing whilst we ate and Colin made Cointreau coffees to finish the evening off.
It had now been raining for 24 hours non stop and we all decided to call it a night whilst wishing for better weather tomorrow.
