Wow, we woke just before 8 to glorious sun and we could finally see some of The Grampians in all of their glory.
As it was departure day we quickly showered and had Australian crumpets (slightly more crispier than the UK version) for breakfast before packing up the vans and securing everything prior to leaving.
The plan for today was myself and Dave would leave the site, park in a nearby car park and do the walk up to The Pinnacles for a spectacular view. Colin and Elaine would head home and try and get everything dried out.
So at just after 9.30 we attempted to leave only to find the campervan just wouldn’t start! With a phone call made to the hire place we said bye to Colin and Elaine and had to wait it out for help to arrive.
Around 12.30 the RACV arrived and confirmed the battery had gone completely flat, the guy got it restarted but couldn’t confirm that it wouldn’t happen again and gave us the option of buying a new battery for Aus440 so we politely declined and decided to chance it for the drive back to Melbourne.
So with the walk abandoned, at 1.30 we set off for the 3.5 hour drive back to Melbourne. Unfortunately the traffic was not good when we hit Melbourne and we eventually arrived at Colin and Elaine’s just before 6. There was just time to stick a wash on, freshen up and we were off to the bowls club for $20 Tuesday, basically a selection of meals for only twenty dollars each. Suitably filled an hour or so later we headed back to their home for our final night for a while in a lovely bed.
