We actually both had a really good night’s sleep last night, the bed in the campervan is actually huge!
After showering and finishing off the crumpets we left the site at 9 to back track slighty to see the 12 Apostles. When we went past yesterday it looked very busy.
Our plan worked a treat and it was relatively empty on the viewing platforms to look at this stunning piece of natural wonder.
Next Loch Ard Gorge. The actual steps to the beach were shut but we had heard you can still do walks from here. Oh what a walk, it was absolutely stunning, we took in all the viewpoints, over a 3.7 mile distance – The Razorback, Mutton Bird Island, Thunder Cave to name a few and our favourite The Blowhole.
Back to the van in time for a drink and biscuit. The sun was finally out and although breezy on the cliff edges it was at least 10 degrees hotter than yesterday.
We then headed back into the lovely town of Port Campbell, we parked up on the beach front and popped in the supermarket for some sourdough rolls. We filled them with ham and tomato grabbed some crisps and water and headed to a picnic bench by the sand to eat lunch. The bay area looked so pretty so we had a little walk to the jetty and then up to Pradys lookout before deciding we really needed to get going again.
First stop after lunch The London Bridge, some of this collapsed years ago but it was still worth seeing. Next The Grotto, wow this was stunning.
Next through Peterborough and then onto Bay of Martyrs and Bay of Islands, both of which were pretty cool.
We then drove into the town of Warrnambool, first to fill up with diesel. Fuel prices have gone crazy over here, our first fill was $1.77, then $1.98, today $2.60!
Our campsite was quite close to the beach and the office had been waiting for us to come in as the receptionists were avid Gavin and Stacey fans and had seen we were from Billericay!
It was only just after 4 so we took the opportunity to change all the sheets and towels over and give the van a quick clean before cooking burgers and sweetcorn for dinner.
We had a quick walk down to another lovely beach with huge waves coming in. It was then back to the van to do the washing up prior to walking into town to find a bar. One of the first ones was Seanchai Irish Bar, bearing in mind it was a Friday night it was dead, so we got back on the pool table. This time we needed 3 games for a decider, closer but I still lost!
