An overcast morning but hopefully no rain. Having packed most of our stuff last night, we were bang on time getting out at 9 after a smaller cooked breakfast this morning.
First stop The Rhue Lighthouse, just a 10min walk from the car park to see this little lighthouse on the edge of some rocks.
By 10 we were leaving Ullapool behind and heading southwards. The first stop was going to be a little town Poolewe but for the first time the travelling is taking longer than expected so we decided to continue on for a while.
By the time we got to Gairloch we were wanting a drink and found the most quirky coffee store/come bookstore and had the most delicious cup of hot chocolate and coffee.
A little further up the road we stopped again to walk along Gairloch beach especially as the sun was fully out again. What a stunning beach, we then saw a sign to the harbour, so of course added that into our walk, just over 3 miles in total.
Victoria Falls (so named after Queen Victoria when she visited in 1877) was next on our list, considering you only need to walk about 3mins to them, they were quite impressive.
The next section of the drive alongside Loch Maree through the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve and onto Torridon was some of the most dramatic and mountainous scenery that we have seen and busiest as it seemed we were against the flow of traffic for the first time!
Final stop before Finding our accommodation was a cute little village called Sheilaig, we had a walk along it and stopped for a swift half with one of the prettiest views ever.
Onto our final destination, Applecross. With only 25 miles to travel, it would take over an hour with the single lane coastal route but a fantastic ride nevertheless. We saw our first stag whilst arriving in this quaint village. After checking in to our cute little room, we took a walk along the shore edge with the sun setting, it was striking.
Back at the Inn, we grabbed a pint and chose our dinner, it was a very relaxed affair tonight as the Inn is closed to non-residents on a Tuesday. Decided to try some langoustine for the first time followed by Asian short ribs (TC) & monkfish (DC).
