After a scaled back Scottish breakfast, we set off at 9. Although the sun fully up it was a chilly start and we were hoping it would warm up quickly
Today we were going to drive the Trotternish loop in a clockwise direction, fitting in as many sights as we could.
No 1. Fairy Glen, almost lost the car down a big pot hole but we did make it and it was a magical little place.
No 2. Uig, filled car up, quick wee stop. Toilets are few and far between on Skye
No 3. Duntulm Castle, another ruin on the cliff edge, good for a scramble around.
No 4. Quiraing. What can I say, first it was a steep road in on a single track, then the view was outstanding. Then he who doesn’t always know best decided we should just walk a wee little bit to get a better view, so 1.25 miles, 768ft up and 45 mins later we were at the top for quite a spectacular view. Same distance down but only 30mins. Now to get down that road again.
No 5. Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls, right next to the car park, so everyone seems to stop here, this is the most tourists we’ve seen, there were coach loads of them! Still worth a quick look though.
No 6. Brothers point. Unfortunately I really wanted to do this walk but we couldn’t get parked, there was literally 6 spaces at side of road and that was it. So continue we did.
No 7. Lealt Falls, again right next to the road with a stunning view and luckily a coffee cart, so we grabbed a hot dog and hot chocolate.
No 8. Finally another loo! Then another walk this time Old Man of Storr. Wow what another amazing walk with views to die for at the peak. Another 3 miles done in 1 hour 34 mins, 1140 feet up!
No 9. Final stop in Portree, the largest town on Skye for a little stroll around.
Just shy of 30,000 steps.
Back to Edinbane Inn for a shower and change for dinner.
I’m sure there are worse ways to spend your Wedding Anniversary!
