After a very comfortable night’s sleep, we met for breakfast at 9.00, within an hour we were headed out for a full days sightseeing.
We walked up to Princes Street and went to see The Scott Monument followed by a quick pit stop in The Balmoral for a Hot Chocolate and green tea for mum.
Next stop, purchasing the hop on/ hop off tickets for 48hours. After 30 mins we alighted the first bus at Edinburgh Castle, grabbed an ice cream and then spent just over an hour exploring the grounds, seeing the crown jewels and St Margaret’s Chapel.
We next started walking to see the famous Bobby the dog statue but had a quick stop in The George IV pub.
After seeing the statue and the grave of the dog,we hopped back on the bus and continued the bus tour for another half hour before getting off at The Palace of Holyrood and doing the audio tour of the palace and grounds.
We all enjoyed this and then had a quick stop in the cafe before continuing with the bus tour back to where we had started this morning. The red bus route now complete, we have a further 2 to do.
Grabbing a cab back back to the hotel, we had time for a quick chill, shower and change before our 7.15 booking at The Botanist.
After a lovely meal accompanied by some live music we headed back to the hotel for a nightcap. Another 2 whiskies, Lagavulin 16yr (blew your brains out until you put 2 cubes of ice in it!) and Cragganmore 12yr (just required the 1 ice cube).

Think the restaurant photo is the botanist? Love your dad and Dave peering through! Are mum and dad enjoying themselves? xxx
Photo was taken in Balmoral Hotel where we had a quick pitstop but we did have dinner in the Botantist that evening!
Hi Fizzy yes we are have a great time enjoying doing lots of sightseeing. As per usual Tracey has got everything planned this makes so easy for us.
Is that a real tree in the restaurant???
