After agreeing last night that today was going to be a lazy day and we’d have a lay in, I was informed at 8 o’clock that we were both going for a run!
It was Saturday after all so we set out on our unofficial Parkrun of Kaikouri, tbh, it wasn’t too bad, at least the sun wasn’t fully up so it was only 16 degrees and extremely flat. I stopped at 5km but Mr Runner continued on for another couple of miles.
After recovering and showering we had a final walk into town to check out the shops and have a light breakfast.
After checking out the room, we headed down to the outdoor pool, where Dave continued with his book and I lazed in the pool for an hour (as it’s only around 25 degrees now) or so before showering and getting ready to go down to the train station.
We luckily bumped into Barry and Doreen again who had already booked a taxi so we jumped in with them to the train station. When boarding the train we discovered we were all ‘scenic plus’ this time, so we managed to get seated altogether. This time we had a meal onboard as well as drinks included, the summer love sparkly rosé wine was the best (our first taste of wine of the trip so far). We had such a laugh whilst enjoying the views we even got asked to keep the noise down! (it reminded us of Ego all over again Joan).
Once alighted we said our goodbyes as we went to get a taxi but Barry and Doreens personal chauffeur insisted on dropping us off as well foc!
We checked in and as it was already 8 o’clock checked with reception on where to head for a drink.
A quick walk to Oxford Terrace and we ended up in The Craft Embassy overlooking the river Avon (They say Christchurch is the most English of all the towns in NZ)

Has mum recovered from chundering? Nice top!
Yes she’s back to her usual self now. Don’t think she’ll be wanting to do another boat trip anytime soon though!
