With our final breakfast in England eaten we were on the road just after 9, the weather a bit drizzly, murky and foggy.
Our first stop The Angel of the North, we have never visited this high up on the east before so it was good to see this in real life albeit we both felt it was not as tall as we had imagined.
At 11.40 we crossed the border into Scotland, no passports were required.
Next onto The Kelpies. This is the largest equine sculpture in the world, basically it’s two quite impressive horses heads.
A quick stop at a services to refill the car for the third time in as many days!
We had hoped to go and see Loch Ness but unfortunately around Dalwhinnie the A9 came to a standstill and even after finding a detour which took us past the centre of Scotland (bit gutted didn’t get a photo!) and cut a chunk of the queue off we still sat in it for at least an hour. They then shut the A9 completely and we all had to take another detour around adding another hour!
We finally checked into our B & B in Inverness at 7pm.
A quick change and we walked over the River Ness to the city centre to check out the bars and refuel. Finding a fab craft beer venue with wood fired pizzas and then on to a bar with some traditional highland music. Ending up with a few too many ‘one for the road’ drinks in Gellions the oldest pub in Inverness (1841) with some more live music and dancing ’til the wee hours!

What’s the weather like? That garlic bread looks like it could give you dehydration
Think the craft beer kept them hydrated 😆.
Weather not too bad Lewis. A bit of sunshine & rain. Garlic bread was fine actually along with the venison pizza & beers!
