Day 34 – Farewell for now to New Zealand (but we will return) – Thursday 14th March

The alarms were set for 7.30 on our last morning in NZ. We showered, dressed and managed to get everything packed back into the 2 suitcases. We decided to head out for breakfast as when we’d had a little stroll around after dinner last night (seeing the Bridge of Rememberance and the Canterbury Earthquake National Memorial) we saw a bar doing a breakfast special.

Suitably stuffed after eggs and bacon on sourdough with a free coffee for £6 each (bargain!) we returned to the hotel to collect the luggage and order an Uber for the airport.

Andrew our driver asked us for our top 3 to which we reeled off about 20 things!

But I think our top 3 were:-

1) The Tongariro Alpine Crossing

2) Overnight cruise at Milford Sound with kayaking and the cold dip!

3) Mount Cook area.

Christchurch airport was soo quiet, Dave set the scanner off and then his rucksack got picked for a drug test! So that killed a bit of time but before we knew it, it was time to board our first flight to Singapore.

So next check in after about 11 hours flying, but back 5 hours.

Arrived in Singapore at 5.45pm local time (so 10.45pm in NZ and 9.45am UK) after an ok flight, little bit of turbulence here and there. Got 6 hours to kill before next flight so we’re heading over to see the waterfall in the shopping centre.

See you all soon in the UK.
