The alarms were set for 7.30 this morning so we could pack everything up, take our last lovely shower for a while before Colin took us to Apollo rentals to collect our home on wheels for the next 23 nights. He was then returning home to finish packing their caravan to then meet up with us this afternoon at the campsite.
We arrived around 9.30 at the rental site to no queues and a relatively easy check in, the guy at the counter had a chuckle at our ancient paper driving licences. We were shown the basics of the vehicle, grabbed some extra towels and bedding, raided the just returned items and came up trumps with tin foil, tissues, water, washing up liquid and some food bags and we were off by 10.30
Destination camping at Halls Gap in the Grampians National Park. It was 176 miles away and should take around 3 hours without stops.
With a quick detour at Ballarat to find a supermarket to get a few more supplies we found an Aldi and stocked up.
Then a pit stop in Ararat to get Dave a cup of tea and we couldn’t resist a couple of apple slices!
Around 3ish we finally found the correct campsite (3rd time lucky) and found our spot next to Colin and Elaine. I quickly cleaned the campervan, packed some posessions away and we made the bed up ready for tonights sleep.
Once all set up we had a beer to congratulate ourselves then thought we had better do a little walk. We walked to a place called Venus Baths and were back within an hour.
A few beers later, Colin started the fire up and put some potatoes on before lighting a bbq for the steak and mushrooms.
Some kangaroos came down to watch us eat our yummy dinner which we were unfortunately eating under Colin and Elaine’s awning as it had began to rain.
Around 10, we all finally decided to call it a day and got ready for bed.
