Day 6 – We finally did it!

We’re waking up later each morning but still managed to eat and get out on the slopes at 10. It was another glorious sunny day. We thought we’d stay local today and do the slopes over our village.

It was a tad windy on the chairlifts. We started off with some gentle blues and even a green to warm up before we got the chairlifts to the peak at 2800 metres. We then decided to do our first ever black run, apart from the fact it was quite steep, the snow was so lovely and soft with no icy patches at all. We made it down with no mishaps and perhaps not the best style, but we had done it.

After numerous lifts and around 10 runs including 2 blacks (as we felt we just had to do it again) and 3 hours of skiing we headed to a restaurant for some hot chocolates avec cream. Although brilliant sunshine there was a chilly breeze today and your hands got very cold within minutes of taking our gloves off.

I thought we were going to take it a little easier in the afternoon and Dave suggested a route, I just went along with it and we then found ourselves back in Lanslevillard and had a bit of a trek to get back. So a further 2 hours later and having clocked up almost 21 miles for the day we arrived back at the hotel. This was definitely the most tired and cold I had felt all week!

Luckily I had an all over sports massage booked (perfect timing) whilst Dave went for a swim.

Feeling fully refreshed we set off for the only bar we had found in town for a drink before dinner back at The Napoleon. Tonight we opted for the pierrade which is basically a pile of raw duck, chicken and beef with some veg, a huge plate of chips and three sauces. You then cook the meat and veg on a hot plate. Absolutely yummy!

Then it was back to the hotel for a read and bed.
