Day 8 – COYG

The alarms were set for 7.30 this morning (Monday) as Colin and Dave wanted to watch the Sunday late afternoon Arsenal/Chelsea game before seeing the scores on any social media, so they set themselves up with a TV and chairs in the camp kitchen.

It was still raining and it seemed we were bang centre in the middle of a weather warning for extreme heavy rain, with around 100ml now expected over a 6 hour period.

Well at least the morning started well with a 2-1 win to Arsenal so the guys were in a very ecstatic mood despite the rain!

We ate a breakfast of omelettes whilst the kangaroos were eating outside and we could hear the kookaburras in the trees.

With the rain finally subsiding we decided to do the short walk back to Venus Baths to see the difference after all the rain. It was definitely running a lot faster now. Colin and Elaine continued back to the site whilst myself and Dave made a detour to Bullaces Glen a 550 metre ascent up into a glen before joining them again.

Then it was back to our normal routine of taking everything over to the camp kitchen for some rolls and crisps for lunch.

With it looking a little brighter and the rain finally stopping we headed out to play crazy golf. I won’t talk about the results so you can guess I didn’t win!

We had an Indian booked for dinner so with a minimal refresh back at the vans we set off up the high street as such for a few beers back at Paper, Scissors, Rock where we actually sat outside in the sun before heading there.

At 6 we headed up to the Indian restaurant which was lovely if a little different to what we would normally have and the food was served to the table by robots!

As it was such a pleasant evening we then went back and Colin lit a fire before we all turned in around 10pm.
