Days 13 and 14, a ‘P’ weekend – Parkrun, party, pool and pub

Well a Saturday only means one thing so the alarm was set for 6.30 to get ready for Parkrun. With a quick freshen up we left the site for the short journey to Churchill Island. It’s a small uninhabited island which you run 3/4 around and then back again.

Finally we trumped everyone by being the only tourists from the UK and at 8 we set off for the very scenic run. Izzy really wanted a PB so I kept with her and tried to set a good pace. We hit the halfway point under 20mins and Izzy had run most of it without stopping. We struggled a little more on the return with a few long uphill sections but luckily it was still overcast albeit quite warm and we managed to finish just over 41 mins, knocking 3 minutes off her previous PB.

A fabulous farmers market was in full swing when we finished the run so we had a walk around and picked some goodies for breakfast.

We then set off on the 3 hour drive back to Melbourne first dropping Izzy back home in Preston and saying fareway to her until we see her back home in June.

Around 1pm we arrived back at Colin and Elaine’s and drove the Campervan into their garden and parked it by their swimming pool to plug into the electric.

Quite a few members of family had arrived and around 15 people would be staying the night, with 6 in the garden (us in the motorhome, 2 in a tent and 2 in the back of a truck) the rest indoors.

We had time for a quick shower before even more people arrived for Colin’s 60th birthday party which was well underway by 6. It was a fab evening with lots of food, drinks, dancing and singing. At 11 the party continued indoors and we eventually got out to the van to sleep about 2 in the morning.

After a late start the next day, breakfast was bacon and mushrooms rolls. After a few people left there was a lot of lazing around albeit Elaine let me put 2 lots of washing on, before we all decided to go out to the pool for a few drinks and to sit in the sun.

At around 5 we walked into town for a pub dinner, then it was more chatting back at home before a relatively early night.
