Day 1 – We’re off to Scotland (again) but with the parents this time.

With a lunchtime flight, it was a leisurely morning heading to Stansted, with our first stop a second brekkie in The Windmill pub.

In no time at all (only a 1 hour flight time) we had arrived in Edinburgh. As most people had taken hand luggage, our cases were first off!

The tram stop was right outside the terminal, so we bought return tickets and by 3 pm we had checked into our hotel – The Royal Scots Club.

After a short walk toward the town centre we soon came across The Dome bar/restaurant so popped in for a quick drink (trying our first two whiskies). Being such a lovely setting we booked in for their Sunday roast.

We then decided to head to Calton Hill passing through St Andrews Square where we found Paddington Bear, being quite a steep ascent, mum and dad decided to have a drink whilst we climbed to the top. The views over Edinburgh were spectacular on this extremely sunny afternoon and we saw The National Monument of Scotland and The Dugald Stewart Monument as well as seeing The Forth in the distance.

We found mum and dad in The Waterloo studying the routes of the hop on/ hop off bus and joined them for a drink.

Realising it had just gone 6, we set off back to hotel for a quick change of clothes before our dinner at 7.

After a lovely 2 course meal, myself and Dave took dad out to the nearest tap bar to watch The Iceman win night 12 of the Premier League darts.
