Day 27 – Queenstown (Mabel’s day off) – Thursday 7th March

We managed to get an Uber really easy last night and once again the night sky was pretty cool over the campsite.

We decided not to rush in the morning and as we’d taken our eye off the ball with washing and with Dave on his last boxers we put a wash on and then turned Mabel into a drying facility!

We managed to get the 11.00 free shuttle into Queenstown where we jumped straight in the gondola to go up to Bobs peak. We then decided to walk a little of the Ben Lomond hike, we did a mile up and that was enough and of course the mile back down. Beautiful views of the town and Lake Wakatipu from the top.

Back in Queenstown we found a craft beer pub and decided to have two paddles so we managed to sample 8 local beers between us! Then in my tipsy state I booked the Shotover jet boat for tomorrow morning!

We then set off to walk around the Queenstown Gardens stopping to watch some boats on the lake whilst we snacked on some fruit. The weather had turned a bit and it had started to drizzle, still with the sun blazing!

We finished the walk and found shelter in a coffee shop and had hot chocolates.

Thinking it was time for another beer we stopped off in a pub whilst deciding where to have dinner. We settled on a steakhouse, where we both thoroughly enjoyed steak and mash.

With a quick stop in the supermarket we managed to grab the last shuttle back to site for an early evening and a read.

Oh and we had a little walk to find some more unusual mail boxes!

Distance covered 0 km (0 miles).
